Dr John McCarthy founded Oxford Systems and has led the company as CEO since 2003. His doctorate is in Cybersecurity and eBusiness Development. He specialises in developing and putting airport cyber security strategies into practice, with extensive experience supporting small and medium-sized airports around the world. He leads the cyber security review team for ACI World’s APEX programme.
His advisory work through Oxford Systems supports boards, senior executives, aviation organisations and operators of critical national infrastructure. It covers governance, assurance, resilience, organisational risk and executive decisions. Consulting, academic research and executive education inform his approach to connecting technical findings with the decisions a business needs to make.
John created Cyber Strategy Translation™ and its Five-Layer framework: a structured way to turn technical evidence into business exposure, organisational consequence, executive choices and accountable action. His background includes over 25 years of executive education and postgraduate teaching.
